Yamaha TMax Tech Max 2025: The king of scooters continues to surprise!
Following iconic models such as the R9, MT-07, and Tracer 9, Yamaha presents the update of another classic: the new TMAX. The 2025 TMAX improves on the eighth generation launched in 2022, with a refreshed design, a sportier and more compact front end, new full-LED headlights, and more enveloping body lines, while maintaining the same engine, riding performance, and ergonomics.
Advanced technology
The 2025 TMAX introduces significant innovations: an inertial measurement system, ABS, cornering traction control, new riding modes, and a 7-inch TFT dashboard with a customizable interface. The Garmin navigation system no longer requires subscriptions, while the keyless ignition has been redesigned and now includes an electronic footrest lock. The Tech Max version offers a multi-level heated seat and handlebars, an adjustable windshield, and, for the first time, tire pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS).
Frame and engine
Yamaha's signature Spin Forged technology reduces wheel weight and improves handling. The frame maintains a 50-50 weight distribution, with ergonomic adjustments via the handlebars and backrest. The Tech Max features an adjustable hydraulic rear monoshock and machined wheels. The twin-cylinder engine remains unchanged, compliant with Euro 5+ regulations, with 47.6 hp.
Road Test: 2025 Yamaha TMax Tech Max
Produced in Iwata, the 2025 TMax Tech Max consolidates its title as the “king of scooters” with targeted updates.
Riding position: Seat 800 mm from the ground, with generous longitudinal room and adjustable lumbar support. Ideal for riders 180 cm tall.
Controls: Well-organized handlebars, 7-inch TFT display and adjustable brake/neutral levers.
Engine and electronics: "Touring" (smooth) and "Sport" (responsive, 47.6 hp, 55 Nm) modes. New cornering ABS, free Garmin navigation, and optimized cruise control.
Braking: The BC (Brake Control) system debuts on Yamaha maxi scooters, improving stability when cornering. The rear brake is sensitive, while the front requires more pressure.
Cornering: Exceptional agility, with a ride similar to that of a naked bike.
Comfort: Excellent suspension (120mm front, 117mm rear), heated handlebars and seat.
Aerodynamics: Electric windshield (Tech Max only) effective even at 130 km/h.
Conclusion
The 2025 TMax improves on an already nearly perfect product: safer braking, enhanced heating, and integrated navigation. The only drawback? The price: €15,699 for the Tech Max (€13,499 for the base version), but the quality justifies the investment. Available in Ceramic Grey and Magma Red, the Tech Max maintains the 2024 price despite the upgrades.
Over 25 years, the TMAX has sold over 340,000 units in Europe, confirming its status as a timeless icon.
